District 11 Meeting – 12/4/2011
The meeting was held at the Cyclone
Bar in Leavenworth, KS. In attendance were 19 members
and 2 guests – John Faber and Brian Thompson, lobbyists
and ABATE members. The meeting started at 2:07 PM with
a moment of silence for our fallen brothers and sisters
and for those whom serve our nation.
Secretary Report:
Mike read a synopsis from the November meeting notes -
all approved.
Treasurer Report: Mo
read the monthly financial report for November - all
approved.
Products Report: Got
some new shirts in – if you want one, see Lea. Further
discussion on the print-on-demand t-shirts option for
our major events – the District voted to pursue this and
Lea will contact the vendor.
Webmaster Report:
Mike stated that everything is up to date on the
website.
Assistant District Rep
Report: Rusty reported the election results.

Lea Pendergraft re-elected as
Leavenworth Co Rep
Rusty recapped the plans for the VA
Chili Feed on the 18th. CVMA is also
helping out, providing desserts while District 11
members will be providing the chili. Roasters are
available for use through a couple of different avenues
and it was suggested that the District look into
purchasing a few next year to have on hand for these
occasions. This will be discussed further in 2012. We
also need prizes for Bingo.
State Report: Doyle
was unable to attend the State meeting.
At this point, Staff Sergeant Jose
Perdomo, Leavenworth Toys for Tots Coordinator, took the
floor. He thanked us for our efforts in the area Toy
Run and discussed a possible Toys for Tots event next
May
Atchison Co. Rep Report:
Brad discussed the upcoming Pool & Darts Tourney coming
up in March and gave an update on a possible sponsorship
arrangement with the soon-to-be-opening Atchison County
Racetrack.
Brown Co. Rep Report:
Discussed the flyer for the 2012 Field Events
Doniphan Co. Rep Report:
Nothing to report.
Leavenworth Co. Rep Report:
Lea thanked everyone who was involved in today’s area
Toy Run. While not a District event, we had a very good
showing. She also discussed further arrangements for
the VA Chili Feed
Old Business: Ruth
brought in examples of the donation drawing tickets we
could use for the donated quilt. After some discussion
and an adjustment, the District approved them
New Business: John
Farber and Brian Thompson, our lobbyists, spoke about
items that have been addressed and updated us on items
in progress: the Dead Red Bill; the Right-of-Way Bill;
Motorcycle Awareness Month Proclamation; and the ongoing
debate about “cheese-cutter” highway dividers
One of our members reported that
there is another establishment in Doniphan Co we should
check out for possible support and meeting space
There was no door prize available.
The next District meeting will be held January 8th at 2
pm at the Milk House Bar in Atchison. A motion to close
the meeting was made, seconded, and all approved -
meeting adjourned at 3:24 PM.
