District 11 Meeting – 12/4/2011

The meeting was held at the Cyclone Bar in Leavenworth, KS.  In attendance were 19 members and 2 guests – John Faber and Brian Thompson, lobbyists and ABATE members.  The meeting started at 2:07 PM with a moment of silence for our fallen brothers and sisters and for those whom serve our nation.

Secretary Report: Mike read a synopsis from the November meeting notes - all approved.

Treasurer Report: Mo read the monthly financial report for November - all approved.

Products Report: Got some new shirts in – if you want one, see Lea.  Further discussion on the print-on-demand t-shirts option for our major events – the District voted to pursue this and Lea will contact the vendor.

Webmaster Report: Mike stated that everything is up to date on the website.

Assistant District Rep Report: Rusty reported the election results.  They are as follows:

Doyle Pendergraft re-elected as District Rep

Mike Malotte re-elected as Secretary

Brad Spilman re-elected as Atchison Co Rep

Lea Pendergraft re-elected as Leavenworth Co Rep

Rusty recapped the plans for the VA Chili Feed on the 18th.    CVMA is also helping out, providing desserts while District 11 members will be providing the chili. Roasters are available for use through a couple of different avenues and it was suggested that the District look into purchasing a few next year to have on hand for these occasions.  This will be discussed further in 2012. We also need prizes for Bingo.

State Report: Doyle was unable to attend the State meeting.

At this point, Staff Sergeant Jose Perdomo, Leavenworth Toys for Tots Coordinator, took the floor.  He thanked us for our efforts in the area Toy Run and discussed a possible Toys for Tots event next May

Atchison Co. Rep Report: Brad discussed the upcoming Pool & Darts Tourney coming up in March and gave an update on a possible sponsorship arrangement with the soon-to-be-opening Atchison County Racetrack.

Brown Co. Rep Report: Discussed the flyer for the 2012 Field Events

Doniphan Co. Rep Report: Nothing to report.

Leavenworth Co. Rep Report: Lea thanked everyone who was involved in today’s area Toy Run.  While not a District event, we had a very good showing.  She also discussed further arrangements for the VA Chili Feed

Old Business: Ruth brought in examples of the donation drawing tickets we could use for the donated quilt.  After some discussion and an adjustment, the District approved them

New Business: John Farber and Brian Thompson, our lobbyists, spoke about items that have been addressed and updated us on items in progress:  the Dead Red Bill; the Right-of-Way Bill; Motorcycle Awareness Month Proclamation; and the ongoing debate about “cheese-cutter” highway dividers

One of our members reported that there is another establishment in Doniphan Co we should check out for possible support and meeting space

There was no door prize available. The next District meeting will be held January 8th at 2 pm at the Milk House Bar in Atchison.  A motion to close the meeting was made, seconded, and all approved - meeting adjourned at 3:24 PM.
